Terms of Use

Updated on

By using flamereader.com, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.

Our guides are general information

Our guides help you compare smoke alarms, carbon monoxide detectors and combination alarms. They are general information, not professional fire safety, electrical or building advice.

Your local code and each alarm's manual decide where alarms go and when to replace them. Check both before you buy or install.

Hardwired alarms run on household power. Turn off the breaker before you touch one, and call a licensed electrician if you're unsure.

If an alarm sounds, get everyone outside and call 911 or your fire department. Don't use our pages to decide whether an alarm is real.
